A Brief Intro To The PresidiGo Shuttles
Tuesday, July 20, 2021
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the PresidiGo was comprised of three routes, two Around The Park routes that operated in a loop inside the Presidio National Park and one express route that ran between the park's transit center and San Francisco's financial district. All three routes are completely free to ride with no passes needed to board at any time. One small exception is for the express Downtown Route where four trips in the weekday mornings and afternoons each are restricted to passengers with non-purchasable passes, usually for those that live or work in the Presidio. Alternatively, passengers with a Muni Visitor pass in the form of a 1, 3, or 7 day pass can also board during these pass-restricted trips (note this does not apply to Clipper Card or regular Muni paper ticket holders). This is done to better ensure there is enough space for those passengers to get on the bus given the limited amount of buses and slightly lower capacity on the high floor El Dorado National XHF buses compared to regular 40-foot transit buses.

The Presidio Hills Route
This route starts and ends at the Presidio Transit Center, located in the northern section of the park across the Presidio Parkway from Crissy Field. The bus departs the Transit Center every thirty minutes on the hour and half past the hour. The entire loop takes about 30 minutes to complete. This route primarily serves the southern half of the Presidio and can get you to locations such as the Inspiration Point Overlook, Baker Beach, and Rob Hill Campground. The Presidio Hills Route is also utilized by a number of the Presidio's residents as its route passes many residential buildings within the park.
The Downtown Express Route
This route starts at the Presidio Transit Center and makes just four stops before arriving at the Embarcadero BART Station where passengers can travel to and from other parts of the Bay Area via BART. After serving Embarcadero BART, the Downtown Express goes on to make one more stop around the block from the Transbay Transit Center on Howard St between Beale St and Main St. This stop allows passengers to make regional connections on AC Transit to the East Bay, Greyhound buses, or Amtrak Thruway Buses.
For passengers, it is important to note that the midway stop at Van Ness Ave & Union is drop-off only when going toward downtown and pick-up only when going to the Presidio. This is to ensure there is enough capacity on the buses for passengers traveling either to or from the Presidio given the limited buses and headway.
The Crissy Field Route
This route is currently (as of 7-22-2021) suspended due to budget constraints and reduced ridership from the pandemic.
Normally, this route starts and ends at the Presidio Transit Center, serving the northern half of the Presidio. This would be the route to take to get to the Golden Gate Bridge and Crissy Field. Compared to the Presidio Hills Route, the Crissy Field Route serves less residents.
